The real estate scene of Chennai is dotted with builder apartments' tightly packed with individual units. No matter the size of the plot, this is a recurrent pattern of habit. Externally, they make a weak attempt at superficial aesthetics and more often than not the buildings still reveal what they really area box of monotonous and repetitive windows and doors. 

When the architects were presented with the brief of creating 3 units within a plot of 40 x 60 their biggest challenge was to utilize the fsi to the maximum while taking care to ensure that the design didn't come off as a box with repetitive patterns. this was to be a house, where each family felt unique. Breaking the repetition was no mean feat. Through balconies and terrace gardens, voids were created to combat the monotony of a solid mass.
